What is grit blasting?
Grit blasting is an effective and efficient method for the pre-treatment of various metal surfaces. Because the blasting process is ideal for removing various impurities, the adhesion between the surface treatment to be applied and the product is considerably improved. By means of blasting, old paint layers, rust and possible mill scale, laser skin and oxides are removed.
VDL Laktechniek has various blasting methods for materials such as cast iron and steel parts. In our blasting process, the products in question are introduced into the blasting machine by means of an automatic transport system, after which they are intensively blasted with steel shot by means of casting wheels.
Steel Grit Blasting at VDL Laktechniek
The speed at which the product is transported, in combination with the speed of the casting wheels, determines the intensity of the blasting process. As a result, an oxide skin or an old surface treatment layer is removed, resulting in a clean surface.
Blasting at VDL Laktechniek is the ideal way to pre-treat large components. In our own Heavy Duty Paintshop we provide various surface treatments with maximum dimensions of 15 x 1.8 x 3.3 metres.
This makes it possible to treat both small and large products. After the blasting process has taken place, the products are usually treated with a suitable powder coat or spray painting treatment. Our specialised employees are available to consult with you and to give personal advice.
